![]() ![]() My P4 2.4C system had 1 GB originally but 4 GB by the end of its life (4x incrrease). For example, my P4 1.6A system had 512 MB originally but upgraded to 2 GB by the end of its life (4x increase). I can alt-tab out of the game and do 10 other things on the side - image editing, web browsing, launching other games, whatever, and never have to worry about RAM.ģ) With every system I've ever built, I was always told my RAM was overkill and I was nuts, only to have to upgrade it once or twice over the next few years to keep up with demands. To me that's a good thing - more information is ready to go.Ģ) While playing a game like Planetside 2 on max settings (including render quality set to 1.50), my system is actively using about 6 GB or RAM with another 5 GB in "Standby" mode - so about 11 GB is being occupied. What I can tell is that Windows will use more RAM depending on how much you have. When I had 4 GB of RAM, it idled at about 1 GB. When I only had 8 GB of ram, windows idled at about 1.5. Let me share my thoughts:ġ) With Windows 7 running at idle on my 32 GB setup, about 3 GB or RAM is being used. My Q9550 used DDR2 and I had 8 GB of it in there, which was previously upgraded from 4 GB. ![]() I recently bought 32 GB or DDR3 1866 when I upgraded from my Q9550 to the 3570K, mainly because it didn't cost that much more to go from 16 to 32. ![]()
